Deputy Mayor joins guests for blessing of refurbished Chapel of Rest

The Deputy Mayor of Keighley joined guests at a Sandbeds funeral home for a re-dedication of its newly-refurbished Chapel of Rest.

The Chapel of Rest at Melia Powell Funeral Services in Bradford Road, where families can say their final goodbyes to loved ones, have been updated and refreshed to give families a comfortable and welcoming experience during their most difficult times.

The team at Melia Powell held a special lunch event and ceremony to re-dedicate their new rooms. The Rev Canon Tony Walker led prayers and celebrant Mark Gregory offered words of reflection.

Deputy Mayor John Kirby was joined by fellow town councillor and former mayor Julie Adams and Bradford city councillor for the area, Caroline Firth, to unveil a plaque to mark the occasion.

Melia Powell Funeral Services is part of the Funeral Partners network with former owner, Brian Langford, acting as a Consultant.

Area Development Manager Wendy Ambler has overseen the refurbishment of the rooms.

She said: “Creating a calm and welcoming environment for grieving families is so important in helping them to both feel relaxed and to trust the team will listen and attend to their every need.

“Melia Powell has deep and long-standing links with the community and our local knowledge and sense of what Keighley people want was summed up in the responses from our guests on the day.”

The responses included: “Cultivating strong connections with the local community is so important.”

“Being active builds trust, gives recognition, and gives purpose and credibility.”

“This has always been the driving force of the business – along with providing the best funeral and personalised service at a more family affordable price.”
