We’re proud to be celebrating the impact of our community grants, having donated hundreds of pounds to inspiring local organisations here in Keighley. It’s been a privilege to support groups that are making a real difference—from health and wellbeing services to our local community centre.
Now, we’re opening our funding programme for a third time, ready to help even more organisations in 2025. Through the Melia Powell Funeral Service Community Fund, we’re continuing our commitment to giving back and strengthening the community we serve.
In its Community Assistance Programme’s latest cycle, which made a donation in July, Melia Powell was delighted to support Hainworth Wood Community Centre, which is run by volunteers for residents of Keighley East, Hainworth Wood, and Spring Bank.
The donation will be used to continue providing a long-standing and well-attended seated exercise class, which has benefited many people and was in danger of being cut due to lack of funds.
Earlier this year, the programme also gave grants to mental health group Missing Peace Wellbeing and Support, as well as Airedale Hospital and Community Charity’s Haematology and Oncology Day Unit.
Melia Powell Funeral Service’s Funeral Arranger, Rachel Abbey, said: “The wonderful thing about the Community Assistance Programme is the variety of causes it has enabled us to support. From health projects to more creative initiatives, each organisation is working hard to improve lives locally, often on very limited budgets.
“We are delighted to have helped them and are now welcoming applications for our final cycle of funding. We’d encourage any charities or community groups who think they could benefit to get in touch.”
The Melia Powell Community Assistance Programme’s third and final cycle has £1,400 available to donate to projects within six miles of its funeral homes in Bradford Road, Sandbeds, and Cavendish Street, Keighley.
Grants are available to fund local activities which improve the quality of life of residents and the wider community.
By the end of the third round of funding, £3,000 will have been donated to local causes.
