Community groups and charities in Keighley and Sandbeds now have another opportunity to apply for funding through the Melia Powell Community Assistance Programme, which has officially reopened for its second round of applications.
Earlier this year, the programme launched for the first time and made a meaningful impact by awarding grants to two local causes:
- Missing Peace Wellbeing + Support, which focuses on mental health and emotional wellbeing
- Airedale Hospital & Community Charity’s Haematology and Oncology Day Unit (HODU), supporting individuals with cancer and blood disorders
These organisations are already using the funding to enhance both physical and mental wellbeing in the community.
Rachel Abbey, Funeral Arranger at Melia Powell Funeral Service, expressed her pride in supporting such valuable initiatives:
“The beauty of the Community Fund is us being able to support two very different groups that help with both physical and mental wellbeing.
We hope supporting these two organisations will have a positive impact on many people. They’re both fantastic causes, and we hope to continue working with them in the future.
I’d urge any other local charities and good causes to get in touch during this round – we would love to hear from you.”
Who Can Apply?
Projects located within six miles of Melia Powell’s funeral homes on Bradford Road, Sandbeds and Cavendish Street, Keighley, are eligible. The fund is designed to support local activities that improve the quality of life for residents and the wider community.
To be considered, projects must align with at least one of the fund’s four priority categories:
- Health
- Education
- Employment Opportunities
- Poverty and Social Deprivation
This is the second of three grant cycles, with the final round scheduled for September.
